Training

Opportunities are provided throughout the year to train professionals and families who work directly with the youth and families we serve. Find a training that fits your needs with conferences, classes and webinars. CEUs are provided for on-site training and live webinar participation.

  • This orientation provides an overview of what to expect when adopting from foster care in Alabama.

  • Join a 6-week parenting course and develop skills to grow your family relationships to create a safer and more peaceful home.

  • This annual conference focuses on the Independent Living Program (ILP) for DHR staff and other ILP professionals.

  • The annual statewide APAC Permanency Conference is provided to DHR staff, in collaboration with the Alabama DHR Offices of Adoption and Foster Care

  • Seminars presented by APAC for social workers, counselors, adoptive and foster parents focused on working with adoptive and foster youth.

  • Provided free throughout the year with topics related to adoption.

  • Training is important to support adoptive families. The APAC program offers conferences, webinars, and on-site training for adoptive & foster families, as well as the professionals who support them.

  • Help join in the fight to end child trafficking in Alabama. Our Child Trafficking Solutions Project trainers are available to meet with any group across the state of Alabama. We're standing by to help local governments and communities become, "trafficking free zones," we'll also help your organization become more informed about the signs of child trafficking and equip you with trauma-informed approaches and resources to help survivors. Camps

Camp provide unique supports to youth touched by adoption and foster care. These shared experiences build relationships between campers and counselors that can last a lifetime.

 

  • APAC sponsors a 4-day camp each year for youth ages 9-18. This fun-filled, challenging and nurturing camp experience for adopted children and their siblings. Campers get the opportunity to spend time with other kids who have similar backgrounds, while parents enjoy a time of respite.

  • Independent Living Program (ILP) hosts two camps each summer for youth in foster care ages 14-16 and 17-20. Activities build self-confidence and age-appropriate independent living skills.
