filtrates our own hearts and minds?\n\nIn this webinar\, we'll explore imp
licit bias and how it impacts our clients\, our families\, and ourselves.
We'll discuss the biological origins of bias\, its impact on present-day s
ociety\, and strategies for addressing it\, both explicit and implicit\, i
n the world around us. Participants will be invited to consider and confro
nt their own biases and will leave with a personal action plan to deal wit
h bias in their personal\, professional\, and community lives.\n\nOBJEC
TIVES: \n1. Participants will be able to discuss the biological basis
of bias\n2. Participants will be able to describe 2-3 examples of bias in
society\n3. Participants will develop a personal action plan to continue l
earning about and confronting bias\n\n\nSPEAKER:\nEd Morales Since
2011\, Morales has worked with more than 1\,000 kids and their families\,
first as a school social worker\, then as a school-based therapist\, and n
ow as a trainer\, parent\, and educator who has partnered with more than t
wo dozen agencies and organizations across the United States to provide tr
aining and consultation on children's mental health\, managing challenging
behavior\, and implicit bias. \n\nEd works as a Trainer with the Minnesot
a Child Welfare Training Academy and as a social worker with Children's Ho
spitals and Clinics of Minnesota\, serves on the Minnesota Subcommittee on
Children's Mental Health\, and is a member of the community faculty at th
e University of Minnesota School of Social Work. Ed is the founder of Soco
rro Consulting and Training\, an organization dedicated to creating a more
peaceful\, compassionate world for young people and their families. The t
ransracially adoptive parent of two remarkable sisters\, Ed lives in North
Minneapolis with his family.\n\nREGISTRATION and CONTINUING EDUCATION:
(1.5 Ethics Hours for Social Work and Counseling) \nAs with all of our
APAC services and events\, admission to this training is FREE for all att
endees and this includes a General Certificate of Attendance for foster pa
rents and other attendees seeking attendance verification. Professional So
cial Work and Counseling CE verification can be purchased for $10 for live
participation. \nParticipants must attend the entire webinar to qualif
y for continuing education verification. (Minimum of 75 minutes to account
for possible technical difficulties or delay.) \nYou will be provide
d a link to join the webinar but also an audio number in the event you do
not have computer speakers/audio. Participants who only join through the p
hone number only will not be eligible for continuing education verificatio
n.\n\nNOTE: The CE fee is waived all Alabama DHR staff. \n\nCan
