fastest-growing illegal activity and the 'Sex Trafficking Superhighway' ru

etected and perpetuated. It has been shown that proper awareness and train
ing\, using appropriate interview techniques/questions\, and being aware o
f risk factors are keys to the identification of CSEC victims. This webina
r is designed to help train professionals and parents around the topic of
commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) and know how to properly
intervene as needed. Participants will begin to understand issues related
to CSEC\, risk factors\, signs of exploitation\, and how to support minor
s who have been CSEC victims. \n\nOBJECTIVES: \n* Define commercial
sexual exploitation\n* Identify the following:\n-basic elements of human
trafficking laws including Safe Harbor Laws\n-basic legal issues related t
o CSEC\n-how human trafficking laws relate to children\n-mandatory reporti
ng\n-the intersection of CSEC\, Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking (DMST) and
the juvenile -justice system and child welfare systems\n-interpret acronym
s of commonly used terms and agencies/initiatives involved in -combatting
human trafficking\n* Identify common physical and behavioral indicators of
CSEC as well as risk factors and warning signs\n* Describe how societal f
actors contribute to demand for CSEC\n* Identify tools that can be utilize
d in the identification and assessment of victims of trafficking including
suggested intake questions and interview techniques\n\nSPEAKER:\nCarri
e Hill\, B.S. has been a Juvenile Probation Officer in Jefferson Count
y since 2005. During her career\, she has held several specialized caseloa
ds to include pre-adjudication\, DHR\, and Human Trafficking. She is Co-Ch
air of the Child Trafficking Solutions Project – a coalition of local gove
rnment and community partners working together to combat Domestic Minor Se
x Trafficking in the Greater Birmingham Metro Area. As co-chair of this pr
oject\, Carrie has trained nearly 3000 first responders on recognizing hum
an trafficking to include the entire Birmingham and Bessemer Police Depart
ments\, Jefferson County DHR\, Jefferson County Family Court\, medical per
sonnel and other organizations around the state. She also started the VOIC
ES docket in Jefferson County – a specialized docket designed to address t
he complex needs and high-risk factors of children determined to be at hig
h risk for\, or already involved in\, human trafficking. Carrie is trained
in Motivational Interviewing and is a Certified Forensic Interviewer. Pri
or to her career at Family Court\, she worked in the Mental Health field p
roviding In-Home counseling services to children who were at risk of being
removed from the home\, and their families.\n\nREGISTRATION and CONTIN
UING EDUCATION: \nAs with all of our APAC services and events\, admiss
ion to this training is FREE for all attendees and this includes a General
Certificate of Attendance for foster parents and other attendees seeking
attendance verification. Professional Social Work and Counseling CE verifi
cation can be purchased for $10 for live participation. \nParticipants
must attend the entire webinar to qualify for continuing education verific
ation. (Minimum of 45 minutes to account for possible technical difficulti
es or delay.) \nYou will be provided a link to join the webinar but a
lso an audio number in the event you do not have computer speakers/audio.
Participants who only join through the phone number only will not be eligi
