Our Services

Meeting the needs of children and their families.

With the support of the Alabama Department of Human Resources and our other key partners, we offer an ever-evolving suite of programs focused on building and strengthening families through a community of expert care and support for youth, parents, children, and the professionals who serve them.

Our services are provided on a voluntary and confidential basis and within the family whenever possible. Children and families actively participate in their own case planning and interventions.

APAC serves adults seeking to adopt, families who have been adopted, young adoptees, and foster and kinship families. We provide a range of free services for all ages.

CAS Private Adoption Support Services

CAS Private Adoption Support Services

CAS recognizes that adoption is a lifelong journey and offers support to adoptees, birthparents, and adoptive parents who were involved in a CAS-led adoption prior to 1994 and those seeking to adopt privately both within the United States or internationally and in need of placement preparation services. (CAS no longer places children for adoption).

EPIC Parenting Instruction Course (EPIC)

EPIC Parenting Instruction Course (EPIC)

The Effective Parenting Instruction Course (EPIC) is available for Jefferson and Shelby County parents in both English and Spanish. EPIC is a free, 6-week parenting class teaching techniques to encourage, build cooperation, and create a stable and peaceful home. EPIC uses the Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) curriculum.

Family Partners

Family Partners

Family Partners provides 24/7/365 intensive case management designed to establish safe homes where families stay together. This partnership between CAS and the Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) provides direct and comprehensive services when children are at risk of being removed from the home or to reunify families whose children have been temporarily removed.

Independent Living Support Services (ILSS)

The Independent Living program moves youth in foster care toward independent adulthood by providing them with resources, education, community, and better communication with the professionals who help them.

Project Independence

Project Independence

Project Independence empowers young mothers to establish strong and stable homes. It provides safe, stable living accommodations to pregnant and/or parenting homeless mothers (ages 16-21) and their children while providing career and life skills training to break the cycle of homelessness and child abuse and neglect.

Child Trafficking Solutions Project (CTSP)

Child Trafficking Solutions Project (CTSP)

The Child Trafficking Solutions Project (CTSP) is a broad-based coalition implementing collaborative community-based solutions to prevent, recognize, and respond to child trafficking. CTSP aims to improve outcomes for survivors of child trafficking, prosecute perpetrators, and mobilize communities to prevent abuse, raise awareness, and increase safety.
