Webinar: When Family Steps Up: A Panel Discussion on Kinship Care

Kinship placements are always the first avenue sought in child protective matters when out-of-home care is required. These arrangements often prevent entry into foster care on the front end or become the permanent plan for children leaving foster care. Furthermore, according the most recent Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS) report, 34% of all adoptions that involved public agency involvement were classified as relatives. While kinship placements offer a variety of priceless benefits, they are oftentimes not quite as straightforward as we would all hope. This panel-style webinar will provide a discussion of the value, considerations, and overall complexity of kinship care. It will also include an overview of the types of kinship care as well as how to support kinship families to ensure a healthy permanent living arrangement for children.
