Current Openings

Trainer & Home Study Specialist

Description: This position is responsible for coordinating TIPS/GPS/DT classes in the Birmingham area, preparing prospective adoption resources of waiting and conducting comprehensive home studies/family portfolios for families successfully completing the classes and selecting to proceed with the home study phase. Travel required, some overnight. This is a full-time position located in Birmingham, AL.

Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Social Work, LMSW or LICSW or licensed eligible. 3 years with adoption/foster care population, TIPS/GPS teaching preferred. Requires good communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Computer Proficiency. Ability to respond calmly and non-judgmentally to others, including persons in crisis.  Ability to work as a team leader and team player, encouraging a positive atmosphere for a teamwork approach. Ability to demonstrate cultural and socioeconomic proficiency. Understanding of trauma informed care. Must have reliable automobile, valid AL driver's license and liability insurance with bodily injury limits of 100/300, clearance with the Alabama Central Registry on Child Abuse and Neglect, and/or other clearances that may be legally mandated or authorized. 


Family Partners Supervisor

Description: Provides supervision to the Family Partners Specialists and oversees delivery of intensive, short term crisis intervention and stabilization services to families. Travel is required. This is a full-time position in based in Mobile, AL.

Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human and Child Development, Counseling or Sociology from a college or university accredited by one of the six regional accrediting associations of the United States; LGSW, LCSW or LPC license/eligibility if applicable to degree. Minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience working with children, youth, and families, plus two years successful full-time, paid supervisory experience in a social services setting. Good communication and problem solving skills. Computer proficiency. Ability to respond calmly and non-judgmentally to others, including persons in crisis. Ability to work with a team while evidencing ability to think critically; plan and carry independent work when directed by the Program Director. Must have reliable automobile, valid AL driver’s license and auto insurance, clearance with the Alabama Central Registry on Child Abuse and Neglect, and/or other clearances that may be legally mandated or authorized.


Family Support Worker III

Description: This position is responsible for supporting the Regional Team Leader and assisting in providing all regional Alabama Pre/Post Adoption Connection (APAC) services. Travel and flexible schedule required. This is a full-time position with two positions available, one based in Montgomery and one based in Huntsville.

Qualifications: Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field. Prefer LMSW, LICSW, or LPC license/eligibility. More than 3 years experience in casework or clinical work with adoptive/foster families. Good communication and problem solving skills. Computer proficiency. Ability to respond calmly and non-judgmentally to others, including persons in crisis. Ability to work with a team while evidencing ability to think critically; plan and carry independent work when directed by the Regional Coordinator. Ability to demonstrate cultural and socioeconomic proficiency. Understanding of trauma informed care. Must have reliable automobile, valid AL driver's license and auto insurance, clearance with the Alabama Central Registry on Child Abuse and Neglect, and/or other clearances that may be legally mandated or authorized. 


Pre-Adoption Team Leader

Description: This position is responsible for coordinating APAC’s pre-adoption services statewide.  The position guides and supervises APAC’s recruitment, training, and home study services related to adoptive family resources under the supervision of the APAC Program Director. Travel required, some overnight. This is a full-time position located in Birmingham, AL.

Qualifications: Master's degree in Social Work, LMSW or LICSW.  Five years   experience in Alabama’s child welfare services, with 5 years in adoption/foster care. Management experience, excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills required. Ability to respond calmly and non-judgmentally to others, including persons in crisis.  Ability to work as a team leader and player, encouraging a positive atmosphere for a teamwork approach.  Computer proficiency. Ability to demonstrate cultural and socioeconomic proficiency. Understanding of trauma informed care. Must have reliable automobile, valid AL driver's license and liability insurance with bodily injury limits of 100/300, clearance with the Alabama Central Registry on Child Abuse and Neglect, and/or other clearances that may be legally mandated or authorized.
